Rules of the Dojang

Self-discipline is a pearl which grows slowly. It gives us the ability to do the CORRECT things in life. To develop self-discipline, we must first learn to accept someone else's discipline. This is the most important reason for the RULES OF THE DOJANG: so that we all may get the maximum benefits for the study of Jhoon Rhee Tae Kwon Do.

  1. All students must bow when entering or leaving the Dojang. This is to show respect for the place where we build our character and strength.

  2. All students must bow before addressing Instructors or other students who have achieved Brown or Black Belt level. Also address as Mr. or Sir, Mrs., Miss., or Ma'am. This is to show respect and also help develop one very important character trait: HUMBLENESS.

  3. Use words of consideration such as "yes, sir", "yes, ma'am", "pardon me", etc. Junior students will speak politely to ALL adults.

  4. All students are expected to be considerate and well behaved. Adult students are expected to set a good example to junior students; advanced students are expected to set a good example to new students and to help such students whenever necessary.

  5. Always speak in a LOW VOICE while another class is in session. Never speak while you are in training unless you wish to ask a question of an instructor. Remember, loud talking, playing, rowdy behavior, etc. have no place in this institute.

  6. A complete uniform must be worn to class at all times and must be kept clean and neat at all times.

  7. Do not chew gum, eat, or drink beverages when in the work-out area.

  8. Do not wear shoes in the work-out area.

  9. No free sparring without protective equipment and instructors permission. Never ask a person of higher rank to free spar.

  10. Try to attend classes at scheduled times and please report to the head office when unable to attend for longer than one week. For periods over 30 days you may freeze your lessons.

  11. No profanity.

  12. No smoking in the Institute.

  13. Help keep your Institute CLEAN!!
