KICKBOXING TRAINING…THE GYM VS. THE MARTIAL ARTS DOJO

Are you ready to start a new lifestyle that involves great exercise, lots of fun and valuable self-defense? Then it’s time for you to try Karate World’s Fitness Kickboxing classes!

You may be wonderingwhat IS the difference between the kickboxing offered at the local giant gym or kickboxing franchise and the kickboxing offered at Karate World’s martial arts & kickboxing dojo? Many people ask this question and we’re happy to explain…

In most cases, they are two different types of kickboxing with different goals in mind – aerobic kickboxing at the gym, and fitness or Thai kickboxing at the dojo. Both include kicking and punching which give you a great cardio workout and at most gyms, this is what their kickboxing routines focus on. The cardio classes at most gyms are just for that…. cardio. A good workout without any other elements. The kickboxing difference at a martial arts dojo and what makes it a “fitness or self-defense version” is that it involves learning strategies and proper form with these movements, PLUS a lot of footwork, body movement and blocking techniques.

At Karate World, our Kickboxing programs gives you the best of both. If your goal is exercise, you’ll definitely get plenty of that. And you’ll learn proper form and how to move your body if you are ever faced with an opponent. The self-defense aspect of karate and kickboxing is equally important. You’ll learn how to use these kickboxing techniques properly and safely. Hopefully you’ll never have to use them unless you want to compete in a tournament, but it’s good to have these tools just in case… And if you’re going to use them, proper form keeps you from getting injured. You’ll also increase your flexibility, strength, and endurance.

There are many Kickboxing and training options out there nowadays. Most of the newer kickboxing gyms are riding a trend and they’re getting their staff certified in Kickboxing in just 6 weeks or LESS! There have been former students of these types of gyms complaining of different injuries and aches and pains from training in these types of facilities. But Karate World’s instructors have been training in the martial arts for DECADES not WEEKS. They understand proper form and the reasons behind the self-defense techniques taught. They don’t just train…they educate students about correct form from the very beginning and because of this, injuries just don’t happen.

At Karate World, you’ll have the valuable benefit of having a martial artist as your instructor. Many of our students train in our Tae Kwon Do classes as well as the Kickboxing group classes. This helps to insure that their routine never gets boring because it combines the mental training of a martial artist with the physical workout for complete overall health.

A Kickboxing class at Karate World includes warm-up exercises, learning and practicing proper kick and punch work on the heavy bag ALL to the beat of heart pumping music. The warm-up and practice take up most of the class so students are constantly moving, strengthening muscles, building a stronger cardio-vascular system, burning insane amounts of calories, and developing a toned, tight, healthy body.
